Lymphoma, what next?

I posted a couple of weeks ago to say I was waiting for biopsy results from the breast clinic.

So today I’ve been told that I’ve got lymphoma. I just feel a little bit lost. The doctors that I see were breast cancer specialists and therefore couldn’t give me much information about treatment or even what to expect. The only information I was told that the next step is a cat scan and then go from there. 

 

I guess i just want to know what to expect. I’ve also got a 3 month old baby so my emotions are all over the place to begin with.

 

any advice would really be appreciated.

    I'm sorry about the diagnosis you've just been given. No doubt you have a lot of thoughts and feelings going through your mind at the moment but I just wanted you to know that we are here for you.

    Hopefully you'll hear from some of our members soon but in the meantime I just thought I'd let you know about the section we have on our website about lymphoma.

    Sorry you find yourself on a Cancer Chat.

    There are so many diffrent types of Lymphoma - so they need to find out the type / where is it  - this will aid your treatment plan.

    Your are likely to be referred to haematology team/oncology team who will work with you the most suitable treatment plan.

    The is a more specialst Website called Lyphoma Action - but until you know the type of Lyphoma you have - it will become confusing.

    The waiting is the horrible bit - once . you know what your dealing with and the planned treatment - there is a sense of taking control again.

    Ask for help for your emotional state . - if you feel you need this either from you Health Visitor or GP or the Cancer Specalist 

    USE THIS CHAT FORUM - when you need it, sometimes just knowing your  NOT the only one going through this help 

    I personal found talking openly with family helped, it is also ok to be upset/angry !!!

    Thank you for your reply. At the moment I’m just feeling so angry and don’t know what to do with myself. My family really aren’t taking the news very well and it’s making me want to keep things to myself. I initially found the lump in March and waited 4 months for an appointment so now all I can think of is that this cancer has had 4 extra months to spread than it should have! 

    I’ve got an appointment tomorrow with a haematologist so hopefully I will get a bit more information then.

    Just drop by - to wish you well at the haematologist tomorrow.

    In this situation all members of the family are upset/angry - they dont want to say something that will upset each other.

    Worse thing you can do is keep things to yourself, speak to either your GP or you Nurse specialist about some emotion support.

    There are times people around you will be tearful/frightful about the future.

    As previous mentioned  once all the tests are done  - you will have a idea of a plan of action
