From lung to kidney

Hi, having survived lung cancer, I now find myself being diagnosed with kidney cancer and I wondered if there was anyone else out there that has survived anything similar?

I had most of my left lung removed  followed by chemotherapy and radical radiotherapy and I've been ok for five years or so I thought. A lesion on my left kidney has shown up on a recent scan which has now been diagnosed as cancer. It's likely that's it a new cancer and they're looking to remove it which would be classed as a cure. Has anyone else had experience from a second cancer which is unrelated to the first?

I am so disappointed, I really thought I'd beaten it.

  • Hi Cardygirl,

I'm sorry to hear that you've been diagnosed with cancer for a 2nd time. It's understandable that you're feeling disappointed.

Although there are different to yours, [@Kleftiwallah]‍ is currently dealing with two separate cancers. I've looked through the forum and can see that [@PositiveJ]‍ and [@Lewanne]‍ both have had kidney cancer. You can connect with them on this thread here

If you'd like to chat with our team of nurses about things then please do give them a call. they are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.
