Cervical Cancer

Today I had my results from a biopsy that I had taken when I had my coloscopy, due to finding High grade (server) abnormal cells. I was very lucky to have my smear test at the age of 24 due to cysts on my ovary my gynevologist sent me for an urgent smear test. So today I went for my results, to find out they have found Cancer! To say I'm shocked is an understatement. They have said it is at the very early stage and will be going back tomorrow for another coloscopy. Don't know why I'm posting, sorry I'm rambling I just don't know what to do or say! :(

  • Hi JL1994

Welcome to the forum alhtough I'm really sorry that you find yourself in the position of needing to post here.

It's understandable that you're feeling shocked and unsure after being given your diagnosis on Thursday. How did your appointment go yesterday? I hope that the hospital were able to give you some more information that may have helped reassure you a bit.

It's likely with the speed of things that you may have some questions about your diagnosis and treatment. We've lots of information on our website here about cervical cancer and we have a lovely team of nurses who will be more than happy to chat to you if you think it would help to talk to them. You can call on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

    Best wishes,

  • I am so sorry to hear this as I know from my own experience of late - what a shock this must have been to you.  That word - Cancer - it puts such fear into us doesn't it?  I only heard it applied to myself 2 -3 weeks ago now and still can't quite believe it.  I have found this site to be a Godsend.  I know you will too.  So many people who have been diagnosed with cancer and have come through it post words of great support.  You will get much solace from their posts as I have - to help you through your understandable fears & worries.x
