BREAST CANCER - ? Inflammatory??

Just back from the breast clinic and been told it is cancer and 50/50 it might be inflammatory cancer.

I am terrified!!  Everything I have read about inflammatory breast cancer says it's a death sentence and I really need to hear from survivors.  Hoping there are a few of them out there

    I'm sorry to hear that you've been diagnosed with breast cancer.

    Presumably you're now waiting on further tests for the consultant to give you more infomation on the type of cancer. You mention that they've told you it's 50/50 that it could be inflammatory breast cancer (IBC). It's natural that we think the worst in these instances but do try to remember that there's also a possibility that it's not.

    I've had a look through the forum and although IBC is quite uncommon, I can see that [@Twinkle23]‍ has recently started a thread here after being diagnosed with IBC.

    We also have some very lovely ladies such as [@Jolamine]‍, [@Chriss]‍ and [@Sandra123]‍  who have experience with other types of breast cancer. They have a rather active thread called The good and the bad where you'll be able to connect with them.

    Hi Smallfish,

    Welcome to our forum, although I'm sorry for the reason that you've joined us. As Jenn says, your 50/50 chance of inflammatory breast cancer, also means that there's 50% that it's not IBC. We all tend to think the worst at this stage, but fortunately it doesn't always turn out to be the case. Do you have a date to return for a definite diagnosis?

    There are many different types and grades of breast cancer. I have had 2 bouts of Mucinous cancer. The first was 10 years ago and the second was 9 years ago.

    I lost my mum to secondary breast cancer 21 years ao and am amazed at the changes in diagnosis, treatment and aftercare since there. There really is no comparison between what she received and what I have experienced.

    There are a number of ladies who are coping well with IBS and, I hope that some of them will come along soon. Try your best to avoid consulting Dr Google, as this will only scare you further. Much of the information is out of date, poorly researched or aiming at the spectacular.
