Grade 2 invasive lobular breast cancer

Hi ppl.

So I was diagnosed last Thursday with grade 2 lobular breast cancer and am now awaiting MRI so am not sure of the stage yet. Been told a lumpectomy/mastectomy depending on MRI result and a couple of lymph nodes, radiotherapy and hormone therapy for 5-10 yrs. My question is has any1 similar to me had chemotherapy too ? As it wasn't mentioned until I asked in which they said we wouldn't no until my MRI results. Was 43 last Saturday! Married and a mum to 3 children, daughter 16 son 14 an youngest son 7. Opp isn't bothering it's all the side effects I'm reading !!

  • Hi Caroline.

So pleased you havent got to have chemo, although still lots to take in isn't it, I do hoor well and wish you good luck with the radiotherapy :)

I had my 1st chemo on Monday and tbh I'm feeling a bit rubbish! :( tired nausea and chemo brain already! Waiting for the real hit when your at your lowest which will be around the end of the 1st wk.

But fingers crossed it wont be to bad :|

thank you for thinking of me sweet and good luck with everything.

Ps. There's a private facebook page called breast cancer uk, it's so good for asking questions of anything you want to no as all the ladies have been through it or going through it, take a look.

  • Hi Starlight and Caz Rosie

I have been reading your posts. I also have Lobular Breast cancer was diagnosed last week on 16 September.  The consultant told me grade one 16mm but then on my letter it said grade 2.  It was found in the tissue biopsy I had on the 28 August but I need more surgery as one of the margins was too small and the wll also check lymph nodes.  I had my MRI today to make sure there are no more.  I get my results this Friday and am really worried.  I just hope there are no more and it has not spread.

Take care and good luck to you both x

  • Hi Roses123

so sorry you are joining this awful club we are all in. I am now 3 months in and just waiting radiotherapy at the mo. I feel all my worrying has now gone and my head is back into ‘normal’ mode. So I take it you have had a lumpectomy? I had an MRI before surgery but due to the size of my 2 tumours, I needed a partial mastectomy with reconstruction. I ended up having a second op too, due to positive margins. My lymph nodes were tested during surgery and thankfully, even though one had clusters in, they were happy I didn’t need a total clear out. Good luck for tomorrow. Let us know how you get on. Have they said what treatment you will need? Xx

  •  I had area of calcifications, which I had core biopsy done at the end of July which was clear of cancer but they found LCIS which is not cancer but gives you a higher chance of getting breast cancer in the future.  Therefore they took the tissue away at the end of August and it was found within that tissue, there was no lump that could be felt and it did not show on the mammogram.  I know I have to have more surgery as one of the margins was too small, and they did mention checking lymph nodes. But other than that I do not know as they are waiing for the MRI results.  I am very very scared for tomorrow but I know all my worrying will not help x

  • No, worrying won’t help but can’t be helped. Try and think positive and keep yourself busy - will be a good distraction and you won’t be clock watching xx

  • I had my MRI results today and it showed two areas of concern near where they found the 16mm cancer, one is 3cm one is 2cm.  The consultant said she thought one of these areas was probably cancer and unsure on the other area.  I had a choice either having them removed and tested, but if they were both cancer I would then need a mastectomy.  I have decided to have the mastectomy straight away and am not having reconstruction.  So will be having this on 8 October.  I just have to hope now for good results from the lymph node

  • Good job they did the MRI then!! My work friend is off for a mastectomy on the 8th also! And I meet my oncologist that day too - let’s hope it’s a good day for all of us! Will keep my fingers and toes crossed for clear lymph nodes.

  • Hi Milton75,

So sorry to hear that your journey hasn't been easy and yes, seems you have had to wait a long time!  Did they say why it would take so long!?!

  • No they didn't say but my appointment is on the 10th of march that's when I  going to ask them y I had to wait so long for  treatment to start I know I had two operations and my cancer nurse said it's because they have to wait for me to be heal first but not long now to wait
