Ovarian cancer with malignant ascities, worried...

Hello,

all we know about my MIL is that her ascities is malignant, a specialist now claims she sees a mass on the ovaries. This is all since Thursday. The dr also said he saw a small nodule on the lower abdomen (maybe a node) She is soo unwell, likely from the fluid (a lot of fluid), I know. Has anyone got an insight into what to expect, is this curable or considered a late stage? Are we going to be looking at pallative treatment to manage as opposed to a cure? I just want to know so I can be prepared for my husband.

This has been an awful and somewhat sudden shock, until a couple of weeks ago the Dr said is was an infection, so she has been so poorly for going on 12 weeks.

Thanks
