Malignant ascites but clear CT

Hi,

So my MIL got the fluid in her belly tested and they said it's malignant but they can't find anything on the CT, all organs, lady parts etc is all clear.

How can that be? We're confused. They've taken bloods but no idea what they do next. Will they do an MRI or PET scan?

    Hello Pandoradistribution, 

    I can imagine it is a very confusing time for you - it might be worth getting in touch with your mother in law's medical team and asking them to explain what it all means. You could at the same time try and find out what the next steps will be and whether they will do an MRI or a PET scan.

    I hope you get an explanation soon on why malignant ascites were found but the CT scan was clear.
