Hi Robbo - I'm afraid I can't give you the kind of advice you are looking for but I'm replying to your post because I see no-one has as yet (they will tho'!!) & might be able to answer some of your questions. It's very easy to concentrate on the sadder stories here when you are so, so worried but there are many positive ones too if you look for them. Things may not be nearly as bad as fear they are & I certainly hope so. My best advice would be to do as many normal/everyday activities as you can. In other words keep busy so you don't spend time dwelling on the negative stuff (that's easy to do I know). Time will pass more quickly & when the results all do come in good, bad or somewhere in between I think you'll cope better than this horrible not knowing.

I'll certainly keep my fingers crossed for your dad.

Hi robbo how fit is your father, that can make a difference, as well as illness cemo can knock anyone for six even very fit ones, radiotherapy is kinder to people but is targeted treatment just certain places,. With prostate cancer you can have either, most men have hormone therapy, it's mild but quite a few side effects I'm afraid until you know. more details it's guesswork but I'll get in touch with [@woodworm]‍ and [@telemando]‍ see if they have any suggestions but mainly more info,. Hope I've helped a bit,. By the way my psa used to be 1581 last May was 0.8 treatment does work as long as pacient is strong enough, good luck with what ever happens, best wishes.

Hi most times they start with hormone therapy then cemo or radiotherapy, mine is in lymph nodes, spine, ribs and pelvis when first diagnosed was also in one lung,, i had no pain either i was seeing Dr for something else but did psa just to be sure,. Remember even in bones is still treatable. Hope you get sorted soon,.

Had it spread to all of these areas at the time of diagnosis or since diagnosis?

If it has spread to bones does this mean it is a fast moving cancer do you know?  I only ask as I've read it can take upto 15 years to spread.  If this is the case can it take as long again before it causes issues I wonder?

So is it hormone therapy only at first to see how body responds ?  I only ask as I've read it's more affective to start chemo not long after ht.

Sorry for all the questions I'm just trying to find out as much as possible before our consultation on Thursday :-(!

It had gone to all those places when first diagnosed,. I could have had it for years and not known, they gave hormone therapy to start fighting C mine was about a month before cemo, i was supposed to start therapy earlier but had trouble getting to see Dr, therapy didn't drop psa down, in first month on cemo went from 1581 to 41, remember your father might not have same treatment as me, I've still got prostate with it spreading so much they said waste of time operating it can do more harm than good,..

Thanks purrfect.  I know your right and I've had some pretty bad times before but nothing in comparison to what's happening at the moment.  I work but because of all the issues with dad this week haven't been at all and can't concentrate on anything anyway and my job is pretty intense at the moment unfortunately too :-(!. Dad had to visir a and e and the doctor there blurted out that it had spread to his bones so even though we kind of expected it it wasn't a particularly good way to find out.  So it's waiting for Thursday now to see IF there's any treatment.
