Triple negative breast cancer

Hi

I am starting chemotherapy on Tuesday 25th July for triple negative breast cancer.

I found a lump at the start of May and it wobbled about but now it’s taken hold in my breast but I keep getting told by every person (doctor, oncologist, my breast nurse) it’s treatable and I will be fine but first chemotherapy will make me poorly to kick cancers ***!

Been told it’s only in my breast everywhere else is clear so I’m keeping positive (I have to as I have two children both need me as one mental health and other autism).

I have good and bad days (mainly at night when I try to sleep I go to dark thoughts and cry) but I can not wait to start Chemotherapy (Carboplatin, docetaxel every 3 weeks)

My main reason to post is positive support (I have loads of support around me but they not going though it) and tips for chemotherapy as I’m a single mum so need to be up n about?

Thank you for reading

(sending positive thoughts and Hugs to you all)

  • Hi Annjo8

Welcome to the forum although I'm sorry that you find yourself needing visit here.

As it happens we've another member [@Lilly96]‍  who is just waiting to start treatment for TNBC. I've tagged you into her post so I'm hoping that the two of you will be able to connect and support each other.

We've also got lots of other ladies on the forum who have different experiences with breast cancer and I'm sure that maybe [@Chriss]‍ , [@Jolamine]‍ or [@TwinTwo]‍ would be able to share their tips for coping with you.

I hope some of this helps.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Annjo,

I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis and can understand how worried you must be. This is quite normal at this stage. It can be quite daunting when there are so many unanswered questions, but your emotions will improve will improve when you start treatment.

It is good news that it hasn't spread elsewhere and that your doctors have said that it is treatable. Try to hold on to this assurance and get ready to kick cancer's ***.

You have a hard time ahead of you, but stay positive and you will get there. What ages are your children?

There are many ladies on this site who have triple negative breast cancer. I hope that some of them will come along to talk to you soon.

I hope that your chemo goes well for you. Do please.keep in touch and let us know.how you are getting on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • My children are 20 and 11.

im keeping positive it’s just at night before I fall asleep dark thoughts creep in so I turn on my phone and load funny cat videos on YouTube to help take my mind of it.

im very lucky to have 3 best friends who have been by my side since day 1 and are even coming with me to chemotherapy.

I also have friends who have beaten cancer (other types) and they have given me a couple of tips for chemotherapy like ice cubes or a lolly plus plenty of fluid and to also have the IV in my arm as less painful then the back up of my hand (plus my daughter grabs my hands often).

Ive let people know if they are poorly even a sniffle not to come near me and the school my Daughter attends is going to help me so I can watch her last primary school play production (she off to high school) x

  • hi i have also just been diagnosed with triple negative stage 1 grade 3  cand have been told likely chemo (would just rather know )lol ! what was the deciding factors for your chemo if you don't mind me asking.

    thanks in advance

  • For me my Chemotherapy was not to bad I felt ok from that but what got me was my medication side effects.

all medication including chemotherapy caused constipation but by my third treatment I had found a way to cope and stop it.

To stop that happening I took Luxedo every evening when I started taking my medication right up until the last injection which was the Tuesday after chemotherapy (my chemo was Wednesday every 3 weeks)

I ate little meals and drank 3 litres of water a day from the day before treatment to a week after as it helps flush the chemo and other medication out quicker.

im now on my 2 week of radiation treatment x

if you have any questions please ask me xx
