metatastic breast cancer with liver metts

I have been diagnosed with metatastic breast cancer with liver metts .Iam a 52 year old mum with 6 grown up children ,and 2 young  Grand daughters.I am currently taking Letrozole , Palbociclib, and Zoladex injections once a month .I have been told it isnt curable, but is managable on the medication,so say for a few years .Has anyone out there got a similar diagnosis to me ,as the diagnosis is very hard to come to terms with, not knowing .I have to wait to the end of July for the CT scan to see if the medication is working, and to make sure it hasnt spread .A very worrying time for me .If anyone going through this can give me any advice about it .eg How they are coping ,feeling etc any feedback would be helpful.Cocksedge.

  • Hi,

There goes mistakes again, you must have been panicking that you did not get Your Pablociclib.

Two weeks ago I went to collect mine from hospital pharmacy and I noticed that my tablet was 100mg not 125mg,I said to pharmacist that she had made a mistake she said that the doctor had lowered the dose as my white cells where always to low.I was so angry.I then called my breast care nurse who I had been speaking to the night before,to tell her what had happened she apologised she said she forgot to tell me,that the dr had decided to lower my dose.

    Anyway enough about me.

Have you been of your food?why you lost weight.

If you have to leave on medical grounds surely you should be entitled to your full pension.

Edinburgh City Council has a two tier pension grade.

You can take the 1st tier if you leave on medical grounds, and you only get some of your pension in a lump sum, because you are still able to work else where.

But the other tier is if you are unable to work again due to your medical illness,so you get your full pension pay out.

I remember you are going on holiday with your son,I hope you enjoy yourself.

I am going to Turkey on the 1st October until 15th so looking forward to that.

Yes still working, daughter has gone back to work after her marternaty leave,so I was babysitting Olivia just in the afternoon picked her up from day centre.I always hav3 a Monday off.So I will do that until I feel I can’t.

I hope you feel better nd you can enjoy your holiday.

Thank you for keeping in touch.

    Bw

  • Hi

nice to hear back from you .I am also on a 100mg now ,Yes i was worried about the palbociclib but not much you can do .Hopefully all will be ok .The consultant said weight loss is quite common in cancer patients .He says its due to the palbociclib, but it isnt as it all started when i had the Zoladex injections in the abdomen my appetite decreased not long after having had it ,and i wasnt even taking the palbociclib then,so it has to be that .I have terrible hot flushes with it too .That was nice having your granddaughter i love having mine ,but my youngest is 2 now .They make you feel so good .I hope you have a wonderful time in Turkey i have never been ,but have heard so many good things ,and my partners mum went every year with her partner who since passed away ,and they both loved it. My partner and i are off to Mexico on the 12th of October for 10 nights .Then will have my 3 monthly scan when i get back .You will be due yours around that time too .Take care speak to you soon x

  • Hi, welcome to the forum that no one wants to join lol.

i have sbc with bone, liver and omental layer mets. I've had it for about 3 years now but dx 2 years ago, the year before I was going back and forth to the docs with pain in my ribs. Doc kept saying it was chostocondritis (prob spelt wrong). I've had quite a few hormone tablets, chemo tablets and chemo. I've just started paclitaxel, only had one round of it last one was cancelled get next on Friday. I was in hospital last week with ascites I looked 9 month pregnant and it's so uncomfortable and painful, you can't breath either, it's just horrible. Had 10 Ltrs drained from my stomach. I'd only had it done 3weeks before, exactly the same amount. They've put a permanent drain in now so district nurses come everyday to drain it.ive also got fluid in the lining of my lungs, got an app on 1st October to see.a specialist if there is still fluid there it could mean it's spread to my lungs as well. He is going to drain it also.

I have a son 21 and daughter 17 and that's the worst having to leave them behind. My husband is amazing and really helpful and understanding. I haven't suffered loads with pain, just now and again.

You should ask to be recommended to the Macmillan nurses they are fab, they sorted all my meds out and one in particular have made a nice friend, she loves coming to our house and always stays for a couple of hours lol. They will help you with anything you need to help you.

How are you feeling atm, are you ok on your chemo? Where your scan results ok, hope it hasn't spread anywhere. If you want to chat I'm here or you can pm me. Best of luck and take care, love Shelly.xx

  • Hi Shelly

Sorry havent replied went to Greece on holiday with my eldest son ,as my partner goes on golf tour every year to Spain or Portugal .I booked the holiday before i knew i had the cancer .Reading your diagnosis .You are far worse than i am ,as mine has only spread from the breast to the lymph gland ,and into the liver,so at least i dont have it in the bones or else where. The medication im on is the problem not the cancer,as it effects my appetite ,energy levels, and my chest ,but as its working from my first scan in July.I have to stick with it.My next scan is the end of October,so its waiting to see what this scan shows .Hopefully good news again. It must be awful for you.At least my children are older .I have 6 of them 3boys the eldest 31to 29 ,and 3 girls 26 to 23 .I also have 2 grandaughters 5 and 2 .One of my daughters gets married in July ,and my sons girlfriend is expectng a baby in june next year ,so i really feel for you .Im glad you have a good friend to support you ,and mcmillian have been good to you .You definetely need all the support you can get .Mcmillian have helped me with forms etc,and have help[ed me ,also St Peters Hospice have been a great support .My GP referred me to them .Would love to stay in touch with you .You are extremely brave,Keep me updated on how you are getting on with your treatment etc .I have one other person on this site i chat to who has similar to me ,but again worse than me .We stay in touch ,we message now and again ,as i dont have anyone i actually know with the same condition, only people who have had breast cancer, and are in remission,so nice to hear from you Shelly hope all is well as can be with you .Hope you will stay in touch .You can message me anytime ,and i will get back to you .Take care .Lots of love xxx

  • Hi,

hope you had a good time in Greece. How did you get on being on your medication first time being abroad, does the heat affect you more?

Have had a stinker of a cold, sent home from work went to doctors just to be on the safe side a# my throat had been very sore, normally I could have fought this but no,doctor said everything fine,he just wanted to check it was not going into my chest,no temperature.so all good.

going on holiday soon so really looking forward to this.Today going to Breastcare meeting we have tia chie today, but I will only stay about an hour and half as I pick up granddaughter from day centre, this is my day off every Monday, daughter said looking after granddaughter and working full time is to much, but I have said I will tell her if it gets to much, anyhow love my work and really look forward to spending time with granddaughter,we normally go to soft play,or park then go to costa for a coffee that’s not hard work.

husband went yesterday with son,my brother and three friends to the Munich beer festival,so they wil have a good time.

Hope you doing okay, and not thinking to much about the situation that we find ourselves in,I know I do then try to get back to as normal as can be.

    Love and hugs

    BW.xxx

  • Hi there,

Yes doing okay, had a much needed holiday.Scans tomorrow you will be fine,I have mine Thursday.Last ones good after a lot of mis read scan information my biggest liver met had shrunk by half and the rest also shrinking, bone mets okay as well, had my Pablociclib reduced again last week,as I ha£ urine infection but okay now so they have reduced just to be on safe side.

Busy on the breast care forum at the moment,as many of the secondary ladies are up in arms about the the new word for us secondary breast cancer ladies, and men, THE UNSURVIVORS,that is an awful word to discribe us.so we hoping w3 can get it changed.

Had two of the granddaughters staying over last night they are so cute, problem is I can’t say no to them. My other granddaughter turned one last Saturday she is adorable,I will babysit her tomorrow afternoon.I am still managing to work full time, which I like.

Anyway please keep in touch, love to you and everything will be fine tomorrow.xxx

  • Hi there,

hope everything went okay today.thinking of you at this time.xxx

  • Hi so good to hear from you ,and that you are ok .Glad to hear your last scan was good.that was nice you have been babysitting your Granddaughters .I really enjoy having ours too .i know what you mean it is so hard to say no to them Im the same .We still have Gabriella once a week ,she started nursery ,and does a full day Monday and Tuesday, and a half day on a Wednesday ,so we have her more at the weekends now. I love having her,she is such goood therapy.I got my scan results yesterday they were good.It has shrunk even more in the liver,so not much left in the liver compared to last time, and breast has gotten alittle smaller, but so say one of the lympth nodes has grown slightly, but she said shes not too concerned about that ,and a hotspot on my diaphram ,but she isnt sure what it is ,says it probably isnt cancer, but should know on my next scan .Not going to worry about that ,so all is good with me .Let me know how you get on with your results . Hope they are as good as mine .They are keeping my medication the same, and i see the dietician on thursday .keep in touch .Lots of love
