anyone taking palbocilib for breast cancer

Hi there this is only my 2nd post i joined this forum to help my mum who is 80 years old and was diagnosed with a stage 3 fungating breast cancer on April 12th, we know she cannot be cured but treatable-still positive though

Mum is currently taking 2.5mgs of Lestazole and her consultant wants her to consider taking Palbocilib, mum cannot decide whether to take it as the consultant did inform us of the harsh side effects but did say it is quite well tolerated.

We would love to hear from anybody who is taking it or previously taken it. Good or bad

    I have beeen taking Palbocilib since approved by NICE in Nov 2017. Also called IBRANCE. I am slightly younger than your mother but have met ladies of a similar age to her also on the drug. I have been fortunate to have had no discernible side effects. My cancer is in a number sites and my tumour markers are falling

    An amazing drug if Mum can tolerate it and there are three dosage strengths ,125 mgs which can be reduced to either 100 or 75 mgs. 

    There are a number other breast cancer forums which can be very informative and supportive.  It can seem a very lonely place out there and you will read some amazing stories which give you great hope.

    Good luck whatever decision she decides.

    Hi there Malloca, thankyou soo much for replying and i am sorry to hear that your cancer is in various points of the body but your markers have fallen which is very encouraging positive news and i hope that the markers  continue to drop. 

    It is difficult sometimes on what to decide and it is frightening when you read all the side effects and having to cope with the cancer aswell but we must stay positive and give the cancer a good bashing, it sounds very encouraging when you said you have had no terrible side effects...thats great!  So you have been taking it for 2 years then, i take it then that it is a longterm drug then? Do not know how long you take it for? We have a telephone appt tomorrow with oncology consultant to discuss this med.
