MRI guided Biopsy for breast cancer

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone had to have an MRI guided biopsy? I have had 9 biopsies so far after the MRI showed 2 more suspicious areas after first diagnosis of breast cancer on 11th April.

One of then has come back benign, a fibroadenoma and the other (other breast) has come back as normal tissue which they are not happy with as it seems they have missed the spot with the biopsy. I went back for a repeat biopsy and they couldnt see anything on the ultrasound, plus the marker they insterted after 1st biopsy has also disappeared! :-(

So now I have to travel out of town to another hospital for an MRI guided biopsy. I am worried how this is all dragging along, it has been 3 months now and I would've thought they would want to get the cancer we know about out of me!

Has anyone else had to have a lot of tests before surgery?

Thanks

  • Hi Nikkipea,

I noticed you hadn't had a reply to your post yet so I just wanted to let you know I've had a quick look through the forum for you and think I've found someone who had an MRI guided/assisted biopsy done earlier this year. Their name is [@Foxdale]‍ and hopefully they'll pop by when they can to share their experience of this procedure with you.

Hopefully some of our other breast cancer ladies who also had a lot of tests after their initial diagnosis will be along soon to offer their support and advice as well.

    Kind regards,
