Inflammatory breast cancer

I was diagnosed with triple negative inflammatory breast cancer 4th March. I am stage 4 as it has spread to lymph nodes in armpit, chest and collar bone. I started chemotherapy 29th March. I am on weekly taxol and three weekly carboplatin. To date I have tolerated the treatment very well. My oncologist will be arranging a scan in 4 weeks. I would like to hear from others with triple negative inflammatory breast cancer.

  • Hi Twinkle23,

Just wanted to drop in and say hello, it's good to hear you've been coping with treatment well. In case you do suffer from side effects further down the line, I've included some tips here, which may help. Hopefully our users with similar experiences can get back to you.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Twinkle

I realise your post was quite a while ago and I hope you are keeping better.

I am just back from the breast clinic. An ultrasound showed a 1cm lump behind my nipple which has been red flagged after preliminary biopsy results.

For some reason I'm not too worried about this as the consultant says it should be very treatable.

Whst I am worried about is an area of swelling on my breast that didn't show up as anything untoward on the ultrasound.

The consultant said it could be just inflammation caused by the actual lump but I am worried that it might be IBC.

May I ask what your initial  symptoms were?

The area on my breast  is definitely slightly swollen and on and off I have pains in my neck, an uncomfortable feeling under my arm and a burning sensation on my collar bone.

I am not sure whether I am imagining after hours of googling but I am beginning to get really scared.
