Alzheimer's and cancer

My mum is 74 and is in the late stages of alzheimer's. She has just been diagnosed, following a scan with cancer in her womb. We have decided not to put her through any more investigations or treatment as it would be too distressing for her. We are unsure how long she has had it (they seem to think it could have been a while) or what stage it is. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect? I have not been able to find any information online about untreated cancer, only prognosis following treatment.

  • Hi Jue.

Welcome to the forum although I'm really sorry to hear about your Mum's situation. It's understandable that you wouldn't want to cause more distress for her with additional tests.

We do have some information about womb cancer on our website here which may answer some of the questions you have but I wondered if you might find it beneficial to speak to one of our team of nurses. They're available on 0808 800 4040,Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Sometimes it can be helpful to talk things through.

Sending our best wishes to you and your Mum.
