Great grandma newly diagnosed

hi, my great grandma has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and we have been told it has spread to her brain. It is killing me to realise that she is going to pass away as i am only 17 and she has always been my rock when i have needed her. she won't have any treatment even though there is nothing the treatment will do as they have caught it too late. i am absoloutely pettrified I have been through this before but i was very young and didn't understand. I am losing concentration if everything i stay at the hospital every night scared she is going to pass away while i'm not there. She doesn't really talk to us anymore and she just lies there. The hospital have said that there is a high chance she will pass away in the next 2 weeks xx

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat s-w-1 although I'm really sorry about your great grandma.

I know there isn't much I can say that can make this time any better but I just wanted you to know you are not alone as many of our members have been on this journey with their nearest and dearest so will understand how you're feeling at the moment and you'll hopefully receive some support and words of advice from them soon.

Some people like to be prepared for what's to come or know what signs to look out for as the time draws near so if you feel this may help then you may want to have a look at the information we have on our website about what to expect in the last few weeks and days, although it may be a bit of a tough read due to what is being discussed.

My thoughts are with you at this time.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
