Maybe someone could talk me off the ledge here!;)

I’ve always thought the NHS a bit slow at the point of diagnostics but my goodness when the Consultant telephoned me at work Friday afternoon with biopsy results confirming SCC, he told me he wanted me in for surgery asap.   He sounded very concerned but my phone kept cutting out due to a bad reception so the only questions I could ask were ‘hello?’ and ‘are you still there?’ repeatedly (in between sporadic bits of one sided conversation. !) My phone finally cut out completely. He phoned back but couldnt get through and left a message he was going to book me in anyway but would try and call me back.. Meanwhile,  I was running around the grounds at work desperately trying to get a signal on my mobile phone.  20 mins later, now with 1 bar on the phone, I got a call from his secretary telling me I was booked in for 10.00 Monday Morning. What a way to get test results!:shocked:

Wow, the NHS may be slow at diagnostics (Ive been chronically ill for some time) but they really move fast when they need to.  Unfortunately I wasnt able to even ask if the cancer had been staged and no idea how extensive the surgery will be.

Its a little concerning that when I saw the Consultant 3 weeks ago and asked how long I would have to wait for the tumour to be removed he said the biopsy could take upto 4 weeks  and I could be waiting for a few months for surgery.  When I freaked at the timescale (we already knew it was cancer but it needed to be typed) he said ‘we only put a rush on if the cancer is very aggressive’ - its been only 2 weeks for the biopsy results and surgery 2 days after that!
