Hi All

I had a mastectomy in February 2018  which showed a 15mm,DCIS..I was having reconstruction with an implant but in June 2018 on  my last expansion it was expanded to 450mls.  This  caused a blister to form and  my scar opened and in August  I had to have the expaned removed under surgery and washed and inserted again.  I was told I did not have an infection and send home.but in September my scar opened again and I was sent for surgery immediately again.    The implant was removed and I was then told I had Staphylococcus aureus infection which had been missed  I was given antibiotics and I am now healed and well.   

My  plastic surgeon has given me the option of reconstruction using my own tissue

1.  Latissimus dorsi flap or 

2,  DIEP reconstruction

I wanted to know if anyone as gone throught this type of surgry and any advise you can give me.  I am healed now but my skin very tight and uncomfortable .   I am 60year old and any very active and back working. 

Any advice would be helfput
