Breast cancer

Hi my name is davina i am 56 and just started treatment for invasive ductal carcinoma. I've had surgery lumpectomy and lymph node axillary dissection awaiting results.and in need of some friendly support from as many people as I can xxx

  • Hi there rileyroo

Thankyou for the welcome, how long have been a part of the club ?

Which kind of bc do you have ? Xxx

  • I’ve come out the other side and just take tamoxifen now.

Mine was stage 2 ductal. Had lumpectomy, radiotherapy and now take Tamoxifen. It’s almost two years to the day since I got the original diagnosis

  • Hi

im a year out from diagnosis and six months from last op. Finished treatment, apart from tamoxifen, which brings its own issues. I had bilateral lumpectomies and 3 lymph nodes removed. If not had any problems with the surgeries.

For me, after treatment I just wanted to move on but now due to joint pains I keep thinking could this be the cancer returning but know it’s likely to be down to the tamoxifen.

I have found friends/family have moved on and that support network is not there if I need to talk as everyone wants to forget about it. It can be a very isolating experience.

    How are you getting on?

  • Hi did you have chemo ? What type ? How did you cope with the side effects ? Xxx

  • Hi Davy, I didn’t get chemo only radiotherapy. There are loads of ladies on here going through chemo hopefully some will drop by.

  • Hi Davsy

Ive had 3 doses of FED at 3 week intervals with no bad side effects except hearburn for which I got tablets.

I am pleasantly surprised and hope it continues as I move into 9 weekly doses of another chemo drug and herceptin

I have cleaned up my diet and lifestyle and i walk most days as it really really helps meckeep my sanity through this tough time.

I could not get picc line in as viens were too small..they going to try again next week...hopefully it will work..ill take diazapam to try and relax to get it in ..had none for first try.

I hope all goes well for you and that it also continues this way for me!

  • Hi Catherine

Am waiting for my appointment to sign up for the Oncotype DX node positive trial where they send samples off to California USA

Have to then wait 2 weeks for the results to see if I will benefit having chemo or hormone therepy  xxx hope you are doing well with your treatment x

  • Hi Davsy,

Hope you are well? I was wondering how your Oncotype test went?

I have or had Grade3 Ductal Carcinoma, have had lumpectomy last month with 3 nodes removed, back in tomorrow for reexcision of margins. I am having the test done also, should get results in next 10 days. So either radio and / or chemo and starting Tamoxifen soon side effects sound just awful!

Anyway just wondering how yr test and treatment was going for you..

    take care x

  • Hi Linda,

Sorry haven't been on site recently

My oncotype DX score was 33 so they class that as high, so I had my first chemo on Monday fec-t  I was so so nervous but really it wasn't as bad as I'd imagined it would be, every body was so nice and kind they couldn't do enough making you feel at ease. So 6 cycles 3 Dec and 3 t then more surgery 15 radiotherapy then back on to hormone therepy.

I hope your results come back soon and that they are good results. Please let me know when you find out

    Much love Davina xxx
