Fibroadenoma turned out to be cancer?

Just had a biopsy which was really painful as I have breast implants and they struggled to get it. They were confident it’s just a fibroadenoma but I’m still stressing. Has anyone been told it’s just a fibroadenoma and it turned out to be malignant?

  • Hi everyone,

First post here from me! I found a lump in my left breast a couple of weeks ago and had my breast clinic appointment today where I have been through the same of many of you have - examination, ultrasounds and a fine needle biopsy (3x for good measure).

i too have received the "it's probably a Fibroadenoma" diagnoses but of course need my biopsy results to confirm this which should hopefully be in a weeks time.

i just wanted to say I'm wishing everyone here the very best whatever your outcomes have been, it's been comforting to read your posts and know I'm not alone.

    Lots of love,

    Emma x

  • Hi, I've just had exactly the same experience and am now waiting to find out the biopsy results! Saw your post was from a year ago, how did you get on? I'm trying to stay positive but the waiting is a struggle !!x

  • Good luck Emma - we're both in exactly the same boat!! Let's hope we both get good news next week x

  • Good luck to you too CandyFlossQueen!

i have my phone on loud and by my side ... just incase. Even though I know it's likely to be near the end of the week before the result are ready! I feel like I can't think of anything else.

Hope your wound from the biopsy is okay, I took off my dressing yesterday and am sporting 3 wee holes and a couple of lovely bruises.

Best of luck, keep in touch x

  • Morning - are you getting your results by phone? I've got a face to face at end of the week.

My biopsies have left a bit of a bruise and small wound site- looks loads better now all the steri strips are off, looked like a big spiders web before and I was a bit nervous of what lay beneath but it's only a small cut. Still feels quite tender but I guess they have to go in quite deep?

im glad to have found this site and be able to 'chat' with others in same position, it does help x

  • Yeah they said they would call to save me going back in but the on the call they might make an Appt for me to go back in... I guess all results dependant!

yes, mines is the same too. Bruising is yellow so hopefully healing now.

Absolutely, there is comfort in knowing you're not alone.

sending lots of positive vibes your way x

  • Sending tonnes of them your way too - I know some ladies on here have been unfortunate not to have the outcomes we hope for one another, but let's stay positive together xx

  • Hi - just wanted to let you know I got the all clear its benign and nothing further needs to be done. Keeping my fingers crossed for you xx

  • Hi,

I've found this forum following my own referral last week.

I had an ultrasound and biopsies taken last Friday. I am only 24 and the doctor was more or less certain it was benign. However, took 3 biopsies to confirm so I am now awaiting the results.

However, the doctor did say to me the lump will need removing so I will need surgery to get it out.

Has anyone else had this? I'm not sure why it needs removing if he thinks it benign and it's making me worry.

They didn't give me much info and said they'll get me back in for my results but I just wanted to see if anyone else has had the same and can give me anymore info. Xxx

  • Hi

its perfectly understandable to worry, we all did, and nothing anyone says will change that. From what I've read/heard the doctors/nurses etc do seem to have a pretty good idea from the off what they are dealing with and only share that when they're confident (albeit I know on rare occasions some results might prove different) so yours does sound positive.

I didn't have to have my lump removed but a friend of mine had hers taken out. I wonder whether it depends whereabouts it is? I couldn't feel mine, it was picked up on routine mammogram, whereas she felt hers so perhaps that is the differential ‍♀️

you should have been given the number of the breast clinic nurses to call should you have any questions - they're really lovely and I would definitely recommend you give them a call

keeping  my fingers crossed for a positive outcome for you xx
