Fibroadenoma turned out to be cancer?

Just had a biopsy which was really painful as I have breast implants and they struggled to get it. They were confident it’s just a fibroadenoma but I’m still stressing. Has anyone been told it’s just a fibroadenoma and it turned out to be malignant?

  • Thanks for this, mines tender to touch sometimes sharp pain but not always.

I think I'll be going round and round in circles until I actually get tested. My appointment is on the 8th November, I'm assuming it'll take a further week or 2 for the results  :(.

  • Good luck on the 8th. I hope it goes well for you

  • Also waiting into triple assessment with previous history of fibroadenoma. Had a previous biopsy confirmed benign about 5 years ago. Now at age 40 my breasts both have multiple thickened areas and lumps throughout. Last month I found a different shape of lump & it's non movable & not tender so thought I'd better get it checked, Gp examined me and marked both beasts in the referral form for attention to be checked, I've my 1st appointment on the 16th in Dublin. Didn't sleep last night & trying not to let this take me over until I know more but it's reassuring to see it's so common to have these fibroadonemas and all be ok. For the rest of your I wish you the best for luck with your treatments & results

  • I had my appointment at the hospital. Luckily, everything was done in one full swop. I got a mammogram, ultrasound and consultant to do a final check in less than an hour.  Really grateful that I didn't need a biopsy, then I was discharged.

The consultant said there were no abnormalities in the breast, however, the pain is caused by pre-menopause.

Good luck and wishing you all the best of health.

  • That's great news such a relief. Hoping I've a similar day ahead of me next Tuesday

  • Did you get your results ? X

  • Hello! I am just following up on my previous post as I got the results a while ago but was waiting for the official letter from the hospital. After my 2nd biopsy it was confirmed that it's completely benign and it wasn't a fibroadenoma but a fat necrosis. The doctor told me it looked exactly like a fibroadenoma on ultrasound and now I am really happy I had the second biopsy. They usually happen from some impact or injury although to be honest I don't remember bruising or hitting my breast.

Wishing you all the best xxx

  • Sorry to hear about your health concer!

I found a lump in my right breast about 2 weeks ago. I first had a phone call appointment with my GP then an in person appointment a week later. She said she pretty sure it's just a firboderma as it's moves around. She said they call this a breast mouse. But just to be sure she reffered me to a breast clinic to be seen within the next 2 weeks.

It's been 4 days so far. Haven't received the appointment letter just yet.

To answering your questions regarding the brest pain or burning feeling I feel a burning pain and tenderness sometimes sharp pain which all comes and goes but mainly in my right breast only. That's why I check my breast in the first place. To be honest I didn't expect to find anything but I find a hard prominent lump which even my husband can feel.

I'm pretty sure it's nothing to worry but in the back of my mind I still just want to get an all clear confirmation from a doctor. I had cervical cancer in 2018 which is all clear now, but I can't help it this situation playing games on my mind.

Let me know what was the outcome of your situation!

    Best wishes!
