Gastric cancer

Hello,

My 79 year old mother has gastric cancer stage 3 spread to lymph nodes. She has to have four rounds of chemotherapy, and has just finished the second dose. She has lost two stone in weight. The cancer was diagnosed in feb 19. She had heliocbacter pylori infection which turned cancerous. I am the only family member left as my father and sister died in 2017. Dad had prostate cancer and my sister died of alcohol and coedine addiction. I am so sad. My mother is very demanding since they died and is very needy.  I wonder if she will survive. She is getting great medical care but lives alone. I can’t look after her because I Live in another county and have to work full time. I am just wondering how sick will she be after the chemotherapy. It’s so hard to know what to do. I do what I can at the weekends but everything is a problem with her.

if she gets through the chemo she will have surgery to remove the tumour. But I fear she will need round the clock care. I just don’t know what to do

  • Hello pudsey2tails,

As you haven't yet received a reply to your post I just wanted to stop by and tell you to hang in there. The situation with your mum sounds like you this is a very stressful time for you and your family so try to go easy on yourself.

Hopefully others who have gone through a similar situation when caring for loved ones with cancer will come along shortly with a few words of support. In any case, please remember, you're not alone and we are here to listen.

Wishing you and your family all the best,
