Hello

Hello everyone. My name is Neet8, I am new. My Dad was diagnosed with bladder cancer recently and I am struggling dealing with it. He lives over 100 miles away, so the only thing I can do at the moment is pray that he gets better. I only found out 3 weeks ago and he knew for 6 months. My aim is to check in with him once a week on the phone to see if he is ok. He has his wife with him who takes good care of him. I just feel alone, as I no longer speak to my mother, and my brother has not spoken to my Dad in over 30 years. Any thoughts of comments would be great help ?:(

  • Hello Neet8,

    Welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad, but it's great that you want to check up on him despite the distance. I can understand that you would feel a bit removed and lonely, but a good thing could be to speak to his wife. Caring for someone can take its toll sometimes so you could offer your support to her, even if it's just talking it over on the phone. Skype is also an option if that is feasible for you all. We have some information for famillies affected by cancer as it would be understandable for his wife to lose sight of her own wellbeing while she cares for your dad. This forum is always here if you need to get anything of your chest.

All the best to you and your family,
