Stage 1b Cervical Cancer

Three weeks ago I was giving the horrifying result of my Biopsy taken due to severe results of my recent smear.

My emotions have been all over the place.  I keep having the conversation in my head when I first found out the news.   I can't sleep at night it's on my mind all the time .

I have a wonderful family.  My husband has been so supportive bless him . We also have two young children so we do have to carry on with life as normal as we wouldnt want them to know.

My MRI is tomorrow and I am really anxious about it as I am so clostrophobix.  I have Diazapan off my doctor should I need it . We have been told to arrive an hour early then I will be able to find out if I can go into the Scanner feet first or not. If not it gives me time to take my Diazapan.

One thing that is really worrying me though however.  Despite me having regular smears (despite me not having my first smear until I was 30 - I know that was really bad.  I am now 44 and I have had lots of smears since then.  The first one though when I was 30 was aborbmal but no action was needed and I was retested a bit later on . I cant remember when that was though however.

So despite having regular smears how have I been diagnosed with Stage 1b cervical cancer.  How has it not been spotted in other smears as Abornmal Cells and all the different stages the abormal cells go through.

I am so confused.

  • With results like that I personally think you will be fine. If you had cancer it would of been picked up on the biopsy. If you had stage 3/4 cancer the consultant would of seen it when doing the colposcopy. Please try not to worry.

  • Hi sorry to jump in on this I know it's 2019 but I'm due to go in tomorrow for me Lettz procedure

I have high hpv and CIN 2-3

worried sick they'll realise it's further than that as having bad tummy aches etc

can I ask you did you experience any abdominal pains like a burning and fat stomach mine feels like when I bend to even pick something up that I'm restricted !

    just thought I ask

    thank you

  • Hi,

firsly how did your appointment go?
I personally didn't get any pain what so ever

  • Hi I had the LOOP yesterday wasn't as bad as was expecting although I have a very small cervix it's not easy for them !

gynocologyst said he 99.999999% sure that he has got it all now it's sent for testing he said there wasn't much there I wish I asked more questions I really do !
I also have to have a ultrasound Re pains too so I have that once I'm allowed to have the one that's inserted as not allowed anything down there for 4 weeks no baths no tampons no sex nothing due to infection which I'm happy with as do not want an infection !
    I'm at home resting now

no more bleeding just bit yesterday I feel sore in my tummy but that's just normal as rest will fix the body

overall I feel a lot better tbh as they'll give me a smear to clear that's what they call it in 6 months to check it gone

I'm also taking lots vitamins to keep my body up and not let it get low with stress etc

    thank you x

  • That all sounds positive. What questions do you have and I will try and help you

  • Hi Maxmill

That all sounds good and I’m sure you’re glad to get it over with. Rest up and recover now and know you’ll be carefully monitored, which I hope will put your mind at rest.x

  • Thank you yes it has but I'm worried still for my tummy pains either side my abdomen and centre do be having an ultrasound on that too

I just pray 6 months from now it's clear if not I have to deal with this again but tbh I know what to expect now so I'm not as worried as much COs all anyone reading this now pls don't do what I did and spend hours googling on the internet because whatever you google for it always comes back with the C word !

stay safe everyone and strong I can't thank you all enough for your comments I've read through and it's helped more than anything to talk on here ️
Also how lucky we are having such wonderful NHS one word AMAZING ️

  • Hi Maxmill

Have to agree about the NHS..after what I’ve been through I can’t thank them enough for saving my life..everyone from consultants to nurses to health care assistants were lovely, treated me with respect and dignity and we are so lucky in the UK to have this.

I never used google...it’s the way of madness and so many people are trying to self diagnose on the basis of out of date stuff and plain misinformation.

I hope everything goes smoothly with your ultrasound and you get some answers. x

  • Thank you

are you all well now ? X

  • Yes thank you, but missing a LOT of internal organs and living with 2 stomas! But I’d rather that than the alternative. x
