Just checking up on you, how are you getting on with the implant?

Not great if I’m honest. I’ve still got a drain in nearly 3 weeks on which isn’t a problem really for me but the implant is very heavy and seems quite big but the main problem is I can feel the edges of the implant particularly under my arm which is rubbing on my skin and giving a burning sensation. I wasn’t sure to start with if it was an infection but it’s not it is the edge of the implant. 

I spoke to my breast nurse and she said I still have other options available to me like the diep construction if I wanted and to speak to my surgeon who I’m seeing on Wednesday. What I don’t want is to wait months if he asks me to think about it before I commit to another operation. I know now it’s not for me. Has anyone else found this with implants and gone for a different reconstruction after.

Hi Kerry - sorry you are still having trouble have they said why you have had your drain in so long? I thought the longest time for a drain was a week - 3 weeks is such a long time - poor you 

I get a burning sensation in my arm from lymph node removal but is yours in your breast where the implant is? Or have I read that wrong? I hope your surgeon can help abit on Wednesday as you do seem to be having a tough time with your implant

ive has one drain out but the output on the other has been consistent 50ml and my surgeon doesn’t take out till 10 or less. In all honesty I’d rather have that than keep having to have it drained. 

Yeah it’s definitely the implant it’s a hard edge under my arm and I also feel like I’ve got a bra wire digging in my ribs. I thought it could have been the drain at first but apparently that’s not where the drain is sitting according to my breast nurse. Hopefully when I see the surgeon on Wednesday we can have a discussion then about it.
