Decision

Hi lump from 6 Mar which after mammogram, ultrasound, biopsy & subsequent MRI now appears to be 2 lumps measuring 21mm, 5mm & gap of 7mm so area 33mm. Not seen consultant since mri got him tomorrow. On initial lump it was spoken of lumpectomy but now worried it’s gonna be mastectomy as know 40mm is the guide but thinking 33mm getting close on my 38B boob. Very anxious as to what the next step is. If anyone has had similar can u let me know your experience. Thanx

  • Hello,

Mine is 3.3cm and would require a mastectomy. However,  they want to do chemotherapy first to try to shrink it and then hopefully a lumpectomy. I am too a 38B but the tumour is right on the cleavage .

Mine is ER+ and HER2+ also, so should respond to chemotherapy.

Basically there are so many factors to be considered that it would be impossible to say what will happen. You will have to see what your Consultant recommends based upon your individual circumstances.

I'm waiting for the MRI and sentinel lymph node biopsy results which will determine where we go from here.

Good luck to you for your treatment.

  • Hi thanks for your response, when did u first find lump, I was 6 Mar n seems to have took forever to get to this point, I only know 2 lump info from nurse all will be revealed tomorrow, from initial finding to where I’m at now seems poles apart. From initially saying they’d be doing lumpectomy now thinking it’s a bit more serious n expecting mastectomy as they said I will lose my nipple regardless. On the conveyor belt so just rolling with it all.

    Good luck to u too

  • Fingers crossed for you for the appointment today.
