Recently diagnosed with breast cancer

Hi everyone , I’m 44 recently diagnosed with Breast cancer DCIS and also hormone positive . Its in my lymph nodes aswell . Had CT , Bone Scan and MRI . I’m back on Tuesday to find out results . I’m freaked out having pain in the middle of my back and kept thinking it’s spread . Everyone says it’s stress . I’m fairly healthy never smoked . Just wondering has anyone any advice please . Xx

  • Hi

I am so pleased to hear that you feel much better on this cycle.  Let me know how your head shave goes. Mines booked in next Thursday assuming I feel ok from Chemo; if it goes ahead!!!!

In terms of your friend, you heard what you heard, there are loads of people having loads of conversations about their own personal circumstances. Mine said that I should have normal life expectancy, that to me is a good thing so I’m going to hang onto that.  The whole suing thing is interesting as I was talking to my breast nurse about complimentary therapies as I think I’m going to try reiki and she said done be upset if they get you sign a disclaimer as some people are worried that they will get sued, how ridiculous, but it’s the world we are in I guess.

Try not to overthink it, as I say to my boys when someone says something to them that upsets them blow up your virtual balloon put inside and let it float away (pretending to blow up a balloon and let it go is optional).

Take it easy and look after yourself.

  • Hi jolamine

I hadn’t realised you had been battling for ten years I’m so sorry to hear that but what I can say is how I find you so positive and caring to all us asking so many questions along our journey and even when I was having a meltdown at the beginning saying I know it was stage four And it had spread you were always so understanding yet rationale about my feelings. For that I always read your comments on WL and bigjeans threads too. You are an awesome lady and thank you for taking time out of your own journey to try and alleviate our fears.

    Hi Mejules,

Thank you for your kind words. I lost my mum to breast cancer 22 years ago and, thought that I was prepared should the worst happen. Little did I know about how I would feel, until it happened. I had a massive meltdown myself when I was first diagnosed and got tremendous help from a group of people on the site, all sadly no longer here.

As a result of this, I know just how scary all the waiting for results can be, alongside all the lifestyle changes, financial worries, etc. A cancer diagnosis carries a lot of baggage with it. It is for this reason that I do my best to try and ease some of the uncertainty and fear surrounding our cancer journeys.

It is always good to hear that my efforts have been appreciated and, I thank you once again for taking the time to let me know.

How are you feeling now? I hope that the soreness is settling down. Do you still have your drain in? I hope that all goes well when you get your results this week. Are you are bringing someone with you to your appointment? This is always a good idea, especially when you are going to get your results.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi BigJean,

I am delighted to hear that you are doing so much better this time and, that you haven't felt nauseous all weekend with your new tablets.

You're quite right to put what your friend said behind you and to just get on with things. As usual Rileyroo has come up with some good advice. You don't need negativity in your life now. Stick to being positive and it will make your journey so much easier.

As to your hair. I'm sorry to hear that it is coming away quite fast now. This tends to happen. I am glad to hear that you have bitten the bullet and are going to get it all shaved off tomorrow. I think that you will find it easier doing this as opposed to having it come out in clumps.

Thank you for your kind words. It's always reassuring to hear that people find my posts of some help.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi jolamine

you truly are inspirational to us x can I pick your brain again as bit confused as to what they will be telling me when I get my results from my op. I was kind of hoping that they will say the masectomy went well and all out. What other results will I get? X

drain is due out tomorrow thankfully. Getting abit more movement and feeling back to my arm but still numb in the armpit and underarm .

    take care me lovely xx

  • Hi swiperbaby

i know I have to have chemo and radiotherapy but yes like you thought resullts would be to say they took it all out. I know with lumpectomy they have to have clear margins etc but surely there is no clear margin with my op?

i stopped the pain relief when I came out of hospital thinking I was ok haha needless to say by the next day I was popping the pills on a regular basis. I’m just taking paracetamol and ibrofren and it seems to be doing the trick. The nerve pain is a shocker when it happens. I’ve actuallt been known to let out a little yelp

when do you get your results? Mine is 5th June x

with regards to driving I was told when I can do an emergency stop and be in control of the car. My mom had a lumpectomy and waited a week and was ok to drive but I think it’s the node clearance that seems to be worse. I was hoping to do short journeys by end of this week x

    take care x
