stage 3d melanoma

Hi guys,

My beautiful dad has been diagnosed with stage 3d melanoma.  He had a 5mm melonoma removed from his head and a positive sentinel lymph node biopsy and neck dissection which found 11 lymph nodes positive for melanoma.  He has started adjuvant pembrolizumab therapy but has had 2 further lumps appear in his neck.  We were told if this doesnt work he would only have 6 months with us.  I am looking for any advise on clincal trials  or other treatments that anyone out there may be aware of.  Thank you in advance.

  • Hi daddyb,

I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I'm Stage 3b but not in Adjuvant Treatment as I was diagnosed long before it was made available. I can't give any personal experience but I know several people on Pembro and in some cases their melanoma initially progressed but then it started to respond to the treatment. Hopefully this will be the case for your dad. I can give you more information on this by private message - I will send you a friend request - when you accept it I can then send you a message.

Clinical trials for melanoma can be found here www.cancerresearchuk.org/.../clinical-trials-search

Meanwhile, is your dad being treated at a centre for excellence for melanoma? These can be found in different parts of the UK.
