Bronchoscopy results: my nan has lung cancer

Hi,

Out of the blue on Friday we found out my Nan has lung cancer. Only two weeks ago we were on holiday in Spain and she was fine so this has come as such a shock - my nan is my best friend and this is my worst nightmare.

She had a biopsy on Tuesday and we have been told by certain doctors it will be 3 weeks until results, others 1-2 weeks.

This is absolute agony - does anyone have any experience? She had a CT scan hence how they determined that she has lung cancer. It is agony not knowing how far along it is and just seems so sereal, all we can do now is pray it has been caught early and we can treat/operate it.

  • Hello AbbieG,

So sorry to hear about your nan being diagnosed so suddenly with lung cancer. It must be a real shock for you especially as it was so unexpected.

I hope you will hear from others here on this forum who have been through this before. I can imagine the uncertainty of it all must be hard to bear for you and I hope you do get some answers very soon.

We have some information on our site on lung cancer which you can access here. If you ever needed to talk to one of our nurses, you can give them a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope you find out more soon about the treatment options that are available to her.

    Best wishes,
