I was very recently diagnosed with Breast cancer. My tumour was oestrogen receptive, and As I had the coil fitted that contained oestrogen I was advised to have it removed before my surgery. I asked our walk in clinic to also perform a smear test at the same time. They were very reluctant. The reason given was my own GP would receive the moment and not the walk in centre. I offered to pay there and then if it was just a matter of money. ( I had been invited for a smear, 12 months earlier, but did not go for it, so I was overdue). The nurse gained permission to carry out the test, before my coil was removed. A week later The same nurse rang me, to warn me I would receive a letter advising I need another test, but I have to wait 12 weeks. The reason given was they forgot to label my smear test. I am concerned enough dealing with Breast cancer.
