Newly Diagnosed-shocking!!!!

Hi my ex husband has been diagnosed with GBM but we’re waiting for a further appointment with neurosurgeon to tell us what the treatment *might* be . The MRI revealed 3tumors one in the right hand side anterior lobe , another somewhere in the middle, and the other left hand side frontal lobe. The decline since his diagnosis has been rapid, with varying degrees of loss in body functions and balance, mood and understanding. I’m also wondering if there’s a possibility of vascular dementia going on. I’m in a difficult position , not his wife but his closest friend, and the mother of our grown children. Where can I get more information about this and how do I deal with this, and how do I treat him? I’m very aware I don’t want to disempower him but it’s hard not to. Thank you. X

  • Hi SuLu.

Welcome to Cancer Chat although I'm really sorry to read about your ex husbands diagnosis. Understandably this is a difficult time for you all.

We've some information about glioma in adults on our website here which may help answer some of your questions. We also have a team of nurses that you can call to chat to on 0808 800 4040 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm).

There is a specialist organisation called The Brain Tumour Charity and their website will likely give you further information.

I hope that you both don't have to wait too long before the next appointment. It can sometimes be helpful to write down any questions you think of beforehand.

You're welcome to post here in the forum whenever you want to chat, ask questions or just offload. Pop back and let us know how things go with the neurosurgeon.

    Sending you our best wishes.
