Diagnosed Germ Cell Cancer at 20 years old

hi all, 

 

i posted last week following an MRI scan i had and some blood tests and yesterday found out i have a germ cell tumour and they want to remove the full right ovary along with the cyst. Im only 20 and very scared and people keep telling me to keep positive and have a good mentality, its weird hearing myself say it and i dont exactly know what to do from here. 

 

any help would be much appreciated

  • I had a germ cell tumour at 23 and had ovary removed. I won’t say it was a doddle but overall it went well and no other treatment required. These tumours very treatable just make sure you look after yourself and heal well after surgery as I had problems with adhesions afterwards due to getting up and running around too soon! They said my fertility would be affected and I did struggle but had a naturally conceived son. I had an early menopause too but the gynaecologist would not commit to whether that was due to having one ovary. Very best of luck to you xxx

    thankyou for your response, i had the surgery and healing very well, just awaiting my results on the 29th april, im a nervous wreck :cry:
