  • Welcome to the forum Cesca although I'm sorry for the reason you've joined us.

I've had a quick look through the forum and found that [@FFBB1]‍ has a similar diagnosis as does [@Tillyj]‍'s mum so hopefully they'lll both stop by when they can to say hello and share their experiences with you.

Do feel free to give our cancer nurses a call if you'd like to discuss your situation with them as well. Their number is 0808 800 4040 and are free to call Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi, I can’t really offer advice but I am going through similar diagnosis with my mum. My mum was diagnosed with non small cell lung cancer with brain mets jan 21after a short period , two weeks, of worsening headaches and balance problems. Been a whirlwind of appointments and tests since. She had steriotactic radiotherapy to her brain last Thursday and is due to see lung specialist on Tuesday regarding a lung oscopy I think that’s what it’s called? Removing upper left lobe. She’s on a reducing dexamethasone dose and is struggling quite a lot with seizures this week due to swelling from treatment, but she does seem a lot clearer these last two days. What’s your plan of treatment? My mums 63, and was previously in good health, good luck xxxx

  • Sorry Tilly ... such a shocking diagnosis and like me so unexpected and quite frankly unbelievable.  I hope your mum is doing well now and that the operation will be a success. No mention of an op for me at this stage but have appointments (lung and brain)!on Thursday. Stereotactic Cyber Knife doesn’t seem to have changed much - still very poor balance and mobility, tremors etc

I am just trying to deal with it all step by step - luckily seizures seem to be controlled —absolutely no sleep though - the steroids I believe.Had a Birthday 59 yesterday and a really lovely day with husband, son and a few friends - Best best wishes and I wish you strength hope and love .  When we are walking through Helll we just got to keep on walking. I don’t know what else to say - it is going to be so tough for you, your mum, family and friends .

  • How you doing? My mum had her lung op last Friday, she’s still in hospital but getting better every day. Trying to get her off dexamethasone as it’s weakening her legs and stopping her sleeping, hope you’re getting better too xxx chin up, you’re doing amazing I’m sure , stay strong xxxx
