Has anyone had the op to have voice box removed? I have to have op to remove voice box and part of my food pipe l terrified l don't like the idea of a stomach l am afraid of the thought of one do l have the op of not .hrlp
I am so sorry to hear this and can fully understand your fear. Unfortunately, your question is one which only you can answer and, even then you need to be sure that you are doing the right thing. Have you got a date for surgery yet?
You need to have a good talk with your consultant and with your GP, plus with any other doctors that you can talk to. Your consultant is a surgeon, so is likely to prefer the surgical option, but he should also be able to tell you about life expectancy with and without the operation. Your GP and other doctors may be more middle of the road.

My husband has had larynx cancer this time last year and had 30 sessions of radio therapy.three weeks ago they did a biopsy and found the cancer is back in the same place .
today we had a meeting with the specialists to find out what treatment he might be able to have and he was told now it wauld have to be surgery...total voice box removal and have been pencilled infor the op a week tomorrow.
He really doesn't,t want the surgery but knows it's I the only option forward but he's wondering if anyone has regretted having this preceedure
