Again, I would advise you to stop focus on statitics from articles whether they be from google or a science website,

We are all individually different and I'm sturuggling to see why such a focus on non smokers and if you smoked it would reduce cancer chances. If you are a heavy smoker then you are at a higher risk for so many other things, which would then lead you to worry about them. The fact there is no diagnosis of cancer is a good positive sign and all the statitics in the world does not automatically mean there will be in the future.

Just in my opnion,you really need to concentrate on consultants advice and perhaps GP for yourself as you are causing yourself agsnt based on articles/statistics/google There are also statistics for walking out the door and getting run over by a bus/hit by lightning or being in a car accident for example but that doenst mean that its going to happen to you.
I appreciate I am not medically qualifies to diagnose which is why I please urge you to concentrate on medical advice.and not articles. Even if the articles are true and he is at a higher risk, that does not automatically mean its going to happen.

I hope you can read into this advice in a positive manner as we are trying help you re focus into perhaps trying not to worry too much about what might never happen..I'm just really sorry you find yourself constantly upset and have constant fear of what might happen and hope you can find some resolution for this.

Im sorry to read that you are still getting yourself in a state of alarm.

I fully understand why you are terrified of the thought of losing him. My hubby and I were teeneage sweethearts married 43 yrs he was my world too, I lost my best friend my soulmate and will never get over it. He had a rare cancer with poor prognosis.

When a person is told they Do have cancer one word they want to hear is moderate its a bit of light in a dark place. You need to hang on to the word "moderate" and be guided by what you hear from his Drs.

I can see you`ve been doing a bit of reading up on oral anatomy well I stumbled upon a piece I wish I had`nt and it is a lesson in leaving the internet well alone. My consultant had a look at my tumour for the first time and was concerned at its position, he went on to say he thinks it has spread to other structures in the mouth etc. He then took photos of it. That got me curious so off I went doing a bit of digging. It has spread into the palatoglossal muscle. What did I read? Well, spread to palatoglossus muscle carries a very poor prognosis and indicates an aggresive cancer. Of course I did`nt like what I read but I have tucked it away and will wait till I get all my results of CT etc this week and be guided by what the team have decided. What did I learn? Nothing you read changes a thing so why do that to yourself !

As biopsies go everyone heals differently. My first two healed very well 5 stitches was eating well by day4. My palate biopsy a different story! So depending on the area of mouth healing is different in time and the way it heals. Has he been using warm salty rinses frequently? They do help.

hi ian. I am  still awaiting call from consultant. The red bit in his sublingual fold is still there today worried that it now turned into cancer it’s just a bit further back than the biopsy site. He has also had a mucus throat  which makes him need to clear his throat for the last two months . I feel im in a hole and  can’t get out.
