A letter destroys your world

I've just received a letter saying after an endoscopy, colonoscopy  and CT Colonography, a narrowing has been discovered by my liver.

'My' Colorectal nurse has just phoned to book me in to see my consultant next week, I also need an urgent chest CT scan.

I'm in bits.

Opening a letter expecting them to say alls fine, when in reality, it's rocked my world.

  • Hello YorkshireLady

I see from your other post that we are the same age, and we are maybe in the same area of the country from your forum name, so I thought I’d pop in and say hello as I’m new here too.

This is a really difficult and frightening time for you and we would all understand that. The not knowing is very hard to deal with, but once you get a chance to talk to the consultant and you get your scan and results you will feel that things are happening and you move from a feeling of loss of control to being more in control.

At the moment you don’t have any real information, and I know there’s no point in me telling you not to worry because you will, but try and keep yourself busy and distracted as you wait for the next stage.

I hope you don’t have too long to wait for your scan. I was referred very quickly for a CT scan of thorax and abdomen, so I remember very well how you will be feeling. Keep coming in and chatting and you will find lots of support from people who know exactly what this is like. xx
