Aching breast?

Hi lovelies, I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and had surgery, radiation treatment and tomoxifen. I was clear in November 2017 and signed off by my Oncologist, he called me a Survivor !! In November 2018 i found another lumb in the same breast, on my scar. I've been to hospital had biopsies and been told i have cancerous cells in my breast. Ive had bloods taken for kidney function, a CT scan and am now waiting to see my Oncologist on 12th February. Previously i suffered no pain in my breast but now my breast feels achy ? not all the time but just now and again, i get the feeling i want to cup my breast and hold it to me! does this make sense. I'm imagining all kinds of outcomes when i visit next week! i have decided i will have a mastectomy with reconstruction.  Has anyone else on here had the achy breast feeling? any info or guidance would be great xx stay strong ladies!! x

  • Hi HS,

Welcome to the forum although I'm sorry to hear that you've found another lump and are facing more treatment.

As I'm sure you probably experienced in 2011, it's so easy to imagine all kinds of worst case scenarios and having been through treatment once already even more understandable. I wonder if you might find it helpful to chat to one of our team of nurses before your appointment next week. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on freephone 0808 800 4040.

Hopefully your appointment will provide answers for some of the questions you have. Keep in touch HS and let us know how you get on.

    Sending our best wishes.

  • Hi - I had a mastecomy in September and am currently going through reconstruction - tissue expander. Just now waiting for a date to have the tissue expander exchanged with a permanant softer silicone implant.

I can't help re the breast pain you're experiencing but I wanted to send you love and good luck for your appointment on 12th.Feb.

I might be more use to you once you have a treatment plan in place and be able to help by letting you know of my experiences of the mastectomy.

Keep us informed of how you get on.
