Hi,

Over 30 years ago (so things may have changed) during an ultrasound they found a complex cyst.  I was 12 weeks pregnant at the time.  I was urgently referred to a gynaecologist who after reviewing said I had to have surgery urgently to remove the cyst.  I had surgery a few days later.  I ended up losing that ovary and had a miscarriage a couple of days later.  I hadn't even thought of cancer, but at my checkup 6 weeks later I was told there was no cancer.  He told me that they check for cancer, when they do biopsies on tissue removed during surgery.

I too was terrified of the surgery (it was my first) but it really wasn't too bad and I recovered quickly.

We can all get cysts but most cause no problems and go without the need for surgery.  I was concered when I was told that the ovary had to be taken, that I would have trouble falling pregnant but it wasn't an issue, I had two further children and had no problems conceiving.
