1b1 squamous grade 3 cells -scared

.I have been diagnosed with squamous cell cervicalcancer 1b1,waiting for hysterectomy as no clear margins. I have recently seen my doc and on notes it says grade 3 which I have been told is the grade of the cells.Has anybody ever had grade 3 cells but staged 1b1?? I'm so scared,I read that grade 1 cells are slow growing, does this mean grade 3 are fast growing or invasive??? Please somebody reply I can't sleep I need reassurance

  • Hi Sharon And welcome.

i was diagnosed with endometrial cancer Stage 1b grade 1 in April 2018. After surgery and histology the cancer was upgraded to 3. I was scared too. It meant further treatment was necessary. I could choose either having further surgery to remove the lymph nodes for testing then treatment according to results or go straight for 25 sessions of external radiotherapy. I chose to have lymph nodes tested and went back for op ten weeks after the first. Fortunately the nodes were clear and I just needed three sessions of internal radiotherapy. The grade 3 was unknown before first op otherwise they would have removed the lymph nodes at the same time. The cancer was removed with surgery and the radiotherapy was to help prevent its return. I finished treatment in early October and I have a follow up appointment in March. I hope this helps.

  • Hi sorry know this an old post but hoping you can help me. I was stage 1a grade 2, but after hysterectomy they moved me to grade 3 as I have mixed cells. Fear is a big thing at moment as sure it is for all of us. But they never took any lympthnodes as was only grade 2,  I worry that they could be hiding cells. I have oncologist next week do u think is wise I insist on them removing nodes. My surgical nurse they he probably won’t take cos means another op. What would you do ?? I hope u are still in good health xx
