Just been diagnosed with breast cancer age 29

Hi,  just got my news yesterday afternoon, that I have breast cancer, grade 2, 3cm lump which is visible, it’s growing at a fast rate, they don’t think it’s in my lymph nodes, got to go back to hospital Saturday for treatment plan, I’ve got to have 6 months of chemotherapy first, starting that within 1-2weeks, then surgery to remove it, then radiotherapy after, I’m so so scared, I also have three children, Its very hard to take all this in, this has come about within a week, went to the doctors on Boxing Day, then referred to hospital, to be seen the day after, to have triple assessment, at first they thought it was a cyst, to realise it wasnt

  • Hi Ellie, I just wanted to reply to you as I can sense how worried and scared you are. I just wanted to reassure you regarding the mastectomy. I had bc in 2005 and had to have mastectomywuth reconstruction a Yr later. I was diagnosed in Aug of this Yr with new primary in other breast and decided to have another mastectomy so Iv lost both breasts. I know everyone is different but recovery is fairly quick and not too much pain, and you get lots of pain relief. Try to keep in mind that the operation is to keep you safe so u can recover, and surgery is an important part of recovery, you will get through this xx

  • Thank you for your reply, it means a lot to me. I'm ok, ok as can be, it's all just a big rollercoaster, one I've been on before, and one I've now got to go on again, it's just getting my head round everything again xx

  • Thank you so much for reassuring me! Bless you. It's nice to know we're not alone, I know we all have our families, which I would be lost without, but it's nice to know someone going through the same thing who understands how it feels. It's just such a shame we find ourselves in this situation in the first place! I hope you're doing ok! Sending big hugs xxx

  • Hi lovely,

would You mind if I sent you a message? X

  • Hi

I've just been reading through this chat and just want to say how strong I think you all are.

I found a lump in my right breast a week before christmas. Yesterday I went to the hospital for tests; had an ultrasound, a mammogram and a biopsy.

The doctor told me she is fairly certain it is cancer and I will get the biopsy results next week to see how severe it is. I was reassured that from the ultrasound it doesn't look as though its in the lymph nodes. Im scared that with all the waiting for results and waiting for treatment it still has time to travel there.

Im just so petrified. I'm 32 and have 2 children (6 years and almost 2 years). What if I don't get to see them grow up or I'm too sick from treatment that I can't be there for them.

    Amy x

  • Hi everyone,

Reading all your messages is given me hopes and assurance. I am  single mum, 36years with 2 kids. I found lump in my left breast early December and I went to A&E straight away, I have had mammogram, CT, Biopsy, bone scans done. I had my appointment today and it was confirmed breast cancer which as spread to one or two nodes. I have been offered chemotherapy first and then surgery. I am scared of chemotherapy but reading all your messages, I know it's going to be a though 6months ahead but I am definitely going to beat cancer!

Amy, we will be there to see them grow by God's grace. Let's stay positive and strong.

    Ade x

  • Hello,

Ive been diagnosed with her2 positive breast cancer today. Feeling a bit numb but also weirdly ok. Just wanted to reach out here as it looks like there are a few who will be going through the same as me this year. Chemo to hopefully shrink tumour, then surgery and then probably radiotherapy. It's going to be a tough year. Sending strength to everyone xx

  • Hi Lucy

My name is Ruth im 54 and on the 22/12/20 i was diagnosed with a strong er positive and strong her 2 breast condition   I remain in total shock has i was investigated early 2020 and all was clear, Im grade 2 stage 2 i dont know the tumour size    I just cant believe  it and im blaming myself for drinking too much after the sudden death of my sister a few years ago.  What have they told you ? x

  • Hi Ruth,

They have told me it is tripple positive, 3cm, not sure yet if it has spread to lymph nodes, let alone further. I've been having tests this week. Bone scan, ct scan and will be having a contrast mammogram and ultrasound on lymph nodes on Tuesday. I'm expecting it to have spread there as the surgeon said she could feel they were enlarged. I'm just praying with every fibre in my being that it hasn't spread further. It is grade 2, but I think her2 positive means it is likely to grow fast and I do think the lump has grown since I found it in December.

I'm 36 and have two boys who are 5 and 3. My husband was diagnosed with neuroendocrine bowel cancer in September and has had surgery and is having treatment for that, and will need further surgery on his liver in the next few months. So it's been a bit of a crazy and awful 3 or 4 months. And doesn't look like it will be letting up! But we just have to get on with it and keep going. Just want to find out full situation now and get on with chemo.

What further tests will you be having? I am sorry you are in this *** position xx
