Diagnosed with Breast Cancer, awaiting Ct/Bone scan results

I have recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer, 5cm tumour.  I am due to start having FEC-T chemo,  6 rounds over 18 weeks.

In the meantime,  I am torturing myself thinking something else has been found on scans. My main worry is having been a smoker, could it have spread as secondary to my lungs. I am having all sorts of thoughts.

I am due to have my node biopsy on Monday. My ultrasound has shown nothing in nodes, and my consultant could not feel anything, but she wants to do biopsy to be thorough.

My BCN,  said to me on the phone yesterday she would let me know as soon as results have been received.

I am trying to be positive.  Wondered if any of you ladies may be able to share your own experiences of how you got through the waiting for test results. I honestly do not recall ever being so anxious about anything before!

If it is bad news,  and there is a secondary, I am not sure how I will cope.

Thanks in advance

  • Thankyou so much Purple. I will report back,  though from what I have read it should be fine.

Make sure you spoil yourself and as my mum says, listen to your body,  rest well and drink plenty of water. Keep in touch. We are all fighters! Xx

    Hi Harvell,

Thank you for your good wishes. Whereabouts on your mum's face was her mole? Mine is just under my eye and close to the nasal passage. I am told that this will present difficulties and, will need skin grafting after. I am glad to hear that your mum is now fine. Did your mum have any grafting post-surgery?

Not long now until radiotherapy starts. I bet that you were relieved to dodge chemo.

I hope that your treatment all goes well.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Purple,

Hope that your biopsy goes well tomorrow and that you will be able to cancel Wednesday's appointment after that.

    Will be thinking of you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Marlyn,

Many thanks for your good wishes. If this one produces a poor pathology result, I fear that there may be several more to come. They are a bit worried because it is so close to the eye and nasal passage to get a wide enough margin. I have had 5 eye operations in the past 2 years, so don't want anything else to cause problems with my sight.

Here's hoping that all goes well for you on Wednesday.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine

Mum's skin cancer was at the sides of both eyes and to a lesser extent underneath her right eye. I don't think technically it was moles. She was very lucky to get it early and she didn't  need skin grafts. She looked like she had gone a few rounds in the boxing ring after surgery! You can't see scars now. Amazing! I hope your treatment goes well. It is always a worry when it's anywhere on the face but the serger these days is wonderful.

Thank you for your good wishes and I send mine back to you. I am thankful to not have chemo but it's still good days and bad days emotionally.

  • Hi again

I have just read your reply to Marlyn and realise now that you have experience of surgery for your eyes. You have been through it! You are amazing.

    Sending virtual hugs.

  • Hello Jolamine/Harvell

Thank you both for your best wishes, so very kind.

Jolamine, you are in my thoughts as you go through your current journey. I hope your pathology results are positive. You are in my prayers.

Just an update.  I had the axilla ultrasound biopsy today. Radiologist identified one suspicious looking node and biopsied.

My consultant explained that they had hoped for results today, but wasnt possible.

She confirmed that SLNB isn't necessary. She said there seemed to be lymph activity on MRI but this was unclear.

I am relieved that I do not need to go through a GA.  However, my over analysing mind now worries something has been missed.

    Hugs to you both. Xx

  • Hi Marilyn,

I want to let you know that I will be thinking about you tomorrow.

I hope that your chemo plan is put in place.

Let us know how you get on.

    Big hugs to you xxx
