Hubby has non Hodgkin lymphoma in bone marrow

My husband has just been diagnosed with non Hodgkin lymphoma in his bone marrow. He is on sit and wait and will be monitored every 3 months. Is it usual for it to just be in his bone marrow?

Many thanks

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

There are different types of NHL. I am guessing that whichever type your husband has is an indolent (slow growing) one, but because it has spread to the bone marrow, it is classed as stage 4 or advanced disease. So in stage 4 NHL, the disease has spread, but you can have stage 4 disease without having bone marrow involvement.

I don't have any figures just for stage 4 with bone marrow involvement, but I can tell you that it is usual for NHL to be diagnosed when it is stage 4 for whatever reason.

I hope this tells you what you want to know.

If you want to talk anything over please give us a call on 0808 800 4040, we are around from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday but closed on New Year's Day. .

  • Hi many thanks for getting back to me. The consultant told us that it was only in my husbands bone marrow and we are very confused as everything that i have read up on says that it can spread to the bone marrow, but we havnt been told that it is anywhere else. Will phone them tomorrow.

    Many thanks
