Prostate cancer

Hi everyone. My dad had a PSA Score of 1440. He had a biopsy and has had a bone scan. He has a Gleason score of 9 and we have been told it has spread through his bones extensively. We were too shocked to ask much at the consultation last week. He has been given a hormone injection which he will be having monthly and has been referred to chemotherapy. I’m concerned it may have spread to other organs, would this be likely to have happened?

  • Hi Sue1965,

I am so sorry to hear about your dad's diagnosis. My dad was diagnosed about 2 1/2 years ago with stage 4 prostate cancer, so I can probably relate to some fo the feelings you are having right now. I am not sure if his cancer would have spread to other organs, in my dad's case, it is only in his lymph nodes and bones. I have heard that prostate cancer does not spread to other organs as readily as it does to bone. I am not a doctor though, so I could be wrong. I just want you to know that my dad has been taking hormone injections for almost 2 1/2 years and he is still here, he is not in any kind of pain, and he feels okay. So, I am hoping this will be the case for your dad. If you ever want to chat, feel free to message me.

I can't give much advice on the chemotherapy as my dad has not had to go through that, but if you want to vent or say anything, I'm always here!
