I had vocal cord cancer which is now in remission. There are many sorts of throat cancer, nearly all of which if caught at an early stage, are highly treatable and cureable. Until you know what particular cancer you have and its staging there’s not much advice anyone can give. In the meantime just remember you are now in the system and the NHS will do a fantastic job in looking after you. Hopefully your cancer will be one of the easier ones and within a year / 18 months you will be clear and remain so.
