Uterine cancer diagnosis

Went for a hysteroscopy and biopsy yesterday. Dr told me I have cancer, but need to go back next week for confirmation of the diagnosis. Have to have an MRI scan arranged to see spread of disease, and then interventions. Trying to stay positive, but this waiting and not knowing is awful. Currently still at work, no point hanging around the house with too much time to think the worst and feel sorry for mysel. Any one any advice how to cope at this stage?

  • Hi

i went to collect my results just under two weeks after my MRI. All the info had to be discussed by the MDT before my appointment with the gynaecologist so it depends when the MDT meet. Have you had your MRI? How did it go? My appointment came through fairly quickly after the scan.

  • Hi, going tomorrow for MRI. Unfortunately the team meet on Tuesday, so reckon it will be next week at the earliest before I get any information. Got some Diazepam off my GP, but not sure if I should take them or just deal with it!. My husband is coming with me, so if he is allowed in the room with me that might be enough. Will let you know how I get on.

  • Hi

I was told that no one is allowed in the room whilst the machine is working. If it was me I’d take the diazepam, it certainly helped me. As long as you don’t take it for a long time I found it’s fine. The choice is yours of course but for me it was a real help in the early days before full diagnosis. Since then I’ve not taken any even though I have a full pack in the cupboard. I found it helped to relax me just enough to cope. I also would let them know tomorrow that you are claustrophobic. I did and they were obviously used to people like me and were very understanding and helpful. Incidentky on my info about MRI it said I could leave gold jewellery on but when I got into the room they made me take all my rings off including my wedding ring. Just a heads up because I was not happy about taking them off and leaving them on a windowsill. They were fine of course but it did cause uneccesary stress,

I hope everything goes well tomorrow. My thoughts will be with you. Let me know how you get on.
