Ovarian cancer, Newly diagnosed saying hello

hi everyone, after weeks being treated for ibs and then possible gall bladder infection, I was diagnosed with stage 2 ovarian cancer.  It has been such a shock, in the time it’s taken to diagnose me I have developed acites which was drained a couple of weeks ago. I lost over 7 litres of fluid. I am back at the hospital tomorrow to have another drain put in to drain off what has filled back up. On Tuesday I go for my first round of chemo. I am 55 years old and wondering what the future is going to bring. Any advice from ladies experiencing the same would be most welcome xx

    And welcome to our little chat room ... where we know all those feelings you must be going through .. coz we've all been there ... though I'm a breast lass .. had masectomy July last year... so different cancer but wer all trying to kick cancers butt ... your not alone on here ...

    Love your doggie pic ... looks like one dog I had years ago .. a real cutie ...  so hold on , it's a bumpy ride .. but wer all on that same ride with you ...  Chrissie

    Thank you Chrissie for your reply, I was due to have taxol and carboplatin together for my first round of chemo but ended up going into anaphylactic shock after 15mls of the taxol. I waited another week and managed to tolerate the full dose of carboplatin. I’m getting my blood tested tomorrow to see if it’s recovered enough to have another dose of chemo next Tuesday. It’s a very bumpy road but I’m still trying to be positive. Diana x

    I've been to have my blood tests today, if they come back ok i will be having my second chemo on Monday. I found out what my tumour markers were before chemo started, they should be under 35. Mine are 5139. I have five days to wait before I know if they have changed due to the chemo. I hate this waiting game

    Sorry to hear about your diagnosis x I am similar I’m 29 and just been diagnosed with cervical cancer . Feel like this forum is helping me with question I need answered and it is a great support system aswell .

    it is the waiting around that frustrating and time takes for test results etc to come back . 

    I hope your ok ( I know it’s easier said that done as I know am not ok just now )

    Hi there ...

    You sure don't do things by half .. anaphylactic shock .. and just a tad higher then 35 ... think your trying to get the record with 5139 ... I don't know a lot about it, but don't need to be an expert to know that's pretty high .. but now you've had all that go wrong, fingers crossed they will sort you out now ..

    Fingers crossed for your next treatment .. your certainly keeping them on their toes .. but try not to let it all floor you .. I had lots go wrong after my masectomy ... but kept my chin up ... as was over the moon just to still be here .. and still feel really blessed ... look at every day as a bonus .. so you can do it too .. 

    If you do get low, know that's o.k .. we all get scared at times .. but it's about taking everything it throws at us .. and saying, it may change our bodies , but it will not change who we are ... and keep those boxing gloves handy .. with so many of us, ready to kick it's *** ... it better watch out ...
