My dad's diagnosis: bowel/liver cancer but MRI cancelled?

Hi everyone --

My 65 year old dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer a couple of weeks ago that's probably spread to the liver. It looks to be quite bad in his bowel. His MRI was scheduled for Friday but has just been cancelled and replaced with a consultant appointment next week. We don't know why the MRI was cancelled- does anyone know why this might be? I'm terrified and would be grateful to learn of anyone's experience navigating all this for a loved on.
