Hi katjack23, same here ,my first post .I'm scared too my gp thinks I may have OC I'm awaiting tests .I have blood in urine bloated belly urgency to urinate and tonight serious lower abdomen  pain ...does anyone know are these the symptoms of OC ...I thought I had UTI ...i really understand ...be brave keep me updated

However you feel, or don't feel, is normal for you. That's all that matters. Sometimes shock can make a person numb and seem not to react. There's no way of predicting. Just go with it, and take one step at a time.

While not in quite the same boat as you, I had a total hysterectomy plus tubes and ovaries out earlier this year. Mine was endometrial cancer, sorted by the op.

The biggest issue for me initially post op was constipation. Oh boy. I did everything advised but it was a problem until being able to reduce painkillers, particularly codeine.It's important to keep on top of pain control so you can move around better. Maybe I should have drunk more water, though I drank more than usual. Spicy food was off the menu for quite a while, it just didn't agree with me. So be prepared to listen to your body.

I was post menopausal but wouldn't have opted for ovaries out given a choice. No choice. Honestly don't think it's made much difference eight months down the line. I was concerned about intimacy and pleasure after the big op. That's all working out fine, with time and patience. 

If you've ever had abdominal surgery you'll know getting out of bed can be tricky. Have a look on Youtube for videos with hints and tips.

I was warned the op could make you feel nauseaus but had no problem. If it affects you, nurses can give you meds to help. 

Look after yourself.

ps I found a site called hystersisters.com useful. It's American based so not everything is relevant to the UK, plus many people only post when they have a problem. So you need to be selective. I came across it post op, having had a week's notice of surgery. It was reassuring to read other ladies experience similar things.

Have you had your tests done and results back yet? I have now had my op and I am recovering. I’m hoping that I won’t need anymore treatment but that will depend on the results of everything that was removed. I hope you are ok x
