Help and advice please

Hi,

It would be good to talk to someone as I'm trying very hard to stay strong for my husband.

We were told today his PSA test is 130 so very likely to be Prostate Cancer! Has anyone had similar? What does this mean? No advance signs other than weeing a lot and hesitancy

Thank you

  • Hi Ge.

    Welcome to the forum.

We've a number of men here who have experience of prostate cancer. [@woodworm]‍ and [@telemando]‍  are some of our regular members here who has been been through diagnosis, treatment and are now happily through the other side. I'm sure they'll pop along and say "Hello" once they sees this post.

We have lots of information on our website about prostate cancer and if you'd like to talk to one of our team of nurses, I'm sure they'll be able to help with some of the questions you most likely both have. They are available to call Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Hopefully your husband won't have to wait too long to see a consultant and then you'll both have a better idea of what is happening.

In the meantime try to take each day as it comes and feel free to post here as and when you need to.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Ge,

    Sorry for not replying sooner.

When I was diagnosed, my psa was 70. It was confirmed as prostate cancer. Like your husband I had no signs other than the fact when I heard water in the metal sink I had to run upstairs and I didnt associate that with cancer. It was only found as my wife eventually made me see my gp and he was on the ball.

I was put on hormone therapy and had radiotherapy and my psa went right down to 0.01. So a very good result. Since I had my treatment things have moved on a lot so please take heart from my story.

Help from my wife helped me a lot.

Wishing you and your husband all the best and if you have any questions I be be happy to reply, Brain
