Hi there ...
I had a masectomy July last year, with a grade 3 her2 neg oestrogen positive cancer... looking back, the hardest part for me was the waiting for the op .. the unknown .. how id feel ... so many what ifs ..
But once I'd said to my self ... right get it done .. get that cancer , that I'd never invited out ... I put a pair of vertual boxing gloves on ... and got in the ring and thought I'll trade it blow for blow ... I coped a lot better ... and the op wasn't half as bad as I'd imagined ... and having a scar instead of a boob, reminds me how far I've come ... and it's a small price to pay for still being here to see my granddaughter (pic)
The advice I'd give is more tender if they take lymph nodes out .. it will take a fare old time getting the use of that arm back to normal ... lots of rest .. listen to your body ... stop when it tells you .. my scar got fluid build up after bout two weeks and had to be drained .. but that doesn't happen often .. do the exercises if your given them .. be prepaired to have a couple of low days .. your body has been through an op ...
There's lots of us breast lasses on here... all doing well .. and remember breast cancer has come a long way ... so get your gloves on and get ready to kick cancers butt ...
Always here if you want to chat ... Chrissie x
HI Olly,
Welcome to our forum, although I'm sorry for the reason that brings you here. Do you know what type of breast cancer you have or what stage it is?
I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 8 years. The first time I had a lumpectomy and the second I had a double mastectomy. These were operated on at the same time and I had less bother with them than I had with the lumpectomy.
If I can be of any help to you in answering any questions, please feel free to ask.
I shall be thinking of you on Monday and hope that all goes well. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
