I’m really sorry to hear about your diagnosis. When your waiting for results it’s so horrible, it seems to take over and invade your mind never to leave. I too am waiting on results, so I know how you feel. All you do is worry but over my journey I’ve learnt to try and put it out of my mind and just keep busy, keep focused on something else, something positive. It does pop into your mind but that I’m afraid is unavoidable, as we are so worried about it and life has a way of reminding you of these things when you least expect it but a good view is that you’ve already taken steps to remove it which is a very positive thing. Being diagnosed so young is hard too, I was diagnosed at 24 and I just couldn’t believe it, took ages to sink in. I really hope your results are positive and there’s every chance they will be. I hope you can keep us updated too, if you ever need more chats, we are here.

So sorry to hear your diagnosis. The first couple of weeks, before you have all the test results and any meaninful ongoing plan, are the hardest. Try to stay positive and not worry. There are good treatments out there, and our medical professionals are really good.

Hospital called and said that my appointment is postponed as they won’t have the histopathology results back by then. Nothing else.

Does this mean something bad? How am I actually meant to cope with this? I can barely eat or sleep as it is

I don’t think you should read anything into that. Pathology labs are I guess the same as any other workplace. Sometimes they must receive more things to analyse, sometimes less, so although they probably try hard to respond in a specified time, sometimes things may take longer.

It works both ways. My appointment to receive the results of my first biopsy was brought forward 2 days! And in fact the news was bad in that I did have breast cancer. However some of the detail was not available, the HER2 status took another 7 days to arrive, and the news that it was of ductal origin rather than lobular took another 2 days after that. I was in a flat spin at that time, knowing that I had cancer, but not knowing enough detail about the type and worrying in case I had something that was more invasive.  These forums were a great help.

Try and distract yourself. If you can do something to take your mind off the worry, you will feel a little better.

That’s ok, I wouldn’t be too worried about the results being delayed. Unfortunately this happens all the time and its unlikely it’s due to your personal results or sample, they are probably just really really busy. I’ve had to wait longer than expected plenty of times so no need to worry there.

coping with something like this is hard but you should try to distract yourself... do things you enjoy, chill with the family, go out and have fun. Worrying isn’t going to change the outcome it just makes you more stressed out and it can make you ill :/. I know it’s frustrating now finding out you have to wait longer but you will be alright, try to relax a bit and focus on something else I know it’s hard but it will do you the world of good even if it’s just for a little while.

I’ve had my results. The cancer was contained within the testicle. Having a CT scan next week along with blood tests to see the pelvic lymph node etc. But they’re very hopeful.

This whole experience has been an emotional rollercoaster and I’m definitely a stronger person after it.

Thanks to everyone on this site who calmed me down and made me feel better. My appreciation and gratitude is enormous. 

Good luck with anyone going through anything... I’m setting myself a goal of doing the Bangkok Marathon next year (I’m British but currently reside there) to raise money for this incredible charity.

That is a little odd, but from my understanding if that hormone level was above a certain level it indicates a certain type of tumour so maybe wanted to have your histopathology results with the CT scan to give you all the news.
